Due to their great height and high occupant load, high-rise buildings contain a greater inherent life-safety risk than other structures. As a result, high-rises are constructed with additional fire protection and life-safety features than other buildings. From an engineering standpoint, it is always valuable to analyze fires that occur in high-rises, in an effort to develop a greater understanding of the effectiveness of various life-safety features.
