1. IFC Section 3404.2.2: Storage containers shall be located within 150 feet from fire department apparatus access roads. Because the building will be provided with an approved automatic sprinkler system, this dimension may be increased, where authorized by the fire department.
  2. IFC Section 3404.4.2.3: The storage area shall be protected against tampering and shall be kept free of weeds, debris, and other combustible materials not necessary to the storage.
  3. IFC Section 3404.4.2.4: A maximum of 1,100 gallons of liquids stored per pile in closed containers is allowed located adjacent the building.Where multiple piles are needed due to more than 1,100 gallons being stored outside adjacent the building, the piles must be separated by a minimum of 5 lineal feet per Table 3404.4.2 of the IFC.
  4. IFC Section 3404.4.3: Containers shall be stored on containment pallets or the storage areas shall be provided with secondary containment.
  5. IFC 3404.4.5: Containers shall be protected from vehicles by bollards, guards or other means.

The building’s storage containers are located behind a locked gate that can only be accessed by authorized personnel. Only trained personnel are permitted to drive vehicles behind the locked gate.

Storage arrangement plans shall be submitted to and approved by the authority having jurisdiction.
