Before construction of a building commences or transfer of ownership occurs, it is often valuable to review the permitting history of the building by retaining approved plans from the building and fire department.

Zari Consulting Group provides permit review services for buildings by obtaining all construction plans submitted to the building and fire department and organizing the plans into the following categories: completed construction, ceased construction, and incomplete construction. Completed construction refers to permits that were approved and signed by building/fire inspection. Ceased construction refers to permits that were not signed off by building/fire inspection because the work was suspended or never actually commenced. Incomplete construction refers to permits that were not signed off by building/fire inspection due to filing errors, contractors’ negligence or the like.

Zari Consulting Group will review the building’s permitting history from plans retained from the Department of Building Inspection and itemize the permits for the purpose of determining which permits were not signed off by Building/Fire Inspectors due to contractor negligence, filing errors, etc. For those permits, Zari Consulting Group will evaluate the extent to which satisfactory construction was employed with respect to the prevailing Building Code during the time of construction.
